星野芳郎『マイ・カー』（カッパ・ブックス、一九六一年、カバーのデザイン・さしえ＝真鍋博）。「乗用車」と書いて「マイ・カー」とルビをふってある。「マイ・カー」と「・」（なかぐろ）があるが、今はほとんど「マイカー」。きっとこの本が「マイ（・）カー」という言葉を流行らせたのだろう（六歳だったのでよく覚えていないが）。真鍋博のイラストはかなりイカしてる。カバーの下部が空いているのはオビがあったか。見返しもカッコいい。当時の自家用車は以下のようなラインナップ。本書の採点では、大衆車クラスではパブリカの評価がもっとも高い。スバル360が次点。パブリカの燃費に驚いた。《都心の混雑のなかで、リットル当たり一六キロ、郊外で一八キロはかたく、うまく運転すれば二〇キロには達するようである》。車両重量が580kg、総排気量が697cc、空冷二気筒、これで38.9万円（スバル360は36.5万円）だからそうとう気張った内容だと思う。パブリカの開発者だった長谷川龍雄氏は昨年亡くなり、その死亡記事（朝日新聞二〇〇八年五月七日）が挟んであるが、それによれば氏は一九五九年にパブリカ、そして六三年にはカローラの初代主査（
